Robo Panda: Revolutionizing Clinic Administration

Robot Panda
Welcome to the future of clinic administration, where efficiency meets innovation! The Robo Panda project is set to revolutionize the way clinics manage their front desk operations. Spearheaded by Dr. Xiong and a dedicated team of collaborators, including administrator Shannon, project planner Barbara Schuh, and the versatile robot designer, builder, and programmer Terry Shen, Robo Panda is here to redefine patient check-in and check-out processes.

Background:

In the fast-paced world of healthcare, time is of the essence. The need for a solution to streamline repetitive administrative tasks led to the conception of Robo Panda. By automating check-in and check-out procedures, clinic owners can now allocate more time to crucial non-automated tasks, ultimately reducing costs and enhancing overall efficiency.

Goals & Objectives:

The primary objectives of Robo Panda are clear and focused on optimizing the patient experience. The main functions include:

-Greeting patients upon arrival.
-Efficiently collecting and managing patient information and health history.
-Notifying Dr. Xiong of patient arrivals.
-Physically guiding patients to their assigned exam rooms.
-Facilitating the check-out process after treatment.
-The goals are set high, aiming for timely and accurate assistance to patients, confidential data management, prompt communication with Dr. Xiong, and seamless patient guidance.

Methodology

1. Chassis:

  • Control Hub for central command.
  • Powerful motors with gears for precise wheel movement.
  • 6 wheels, including grip and Omni wheels, ensuring smooth navigation.
  • Distance sensors for precise objective detection.
  • Built-in gyro sensor for accurate movement.
  • 12V Rechargeable Battery for sustained operation.
  • Sturdy Aluminum C Channel for structural integrity.
  • Driver Station for external control.

2. Control Functions:

  • Autonomous operation without human input.
  • Driver-controlled capability for manual intervention.

3. Connections:

  • WiFi Direct Connection for seamless communication.

4. Software and Functionality:

  • Various movement options with gyro and distance sensor correction.
  • Utilization of an iPad for patient interactions.

Progress & Milestones

As of now, Robo Panda’s base and coding have been successfully completed. The next milestone involves the installation of the panda body into the robot, bringing us one step closer to implementing this innovative solution in the clinic environment.
